Teng Moi, aged 50, suffers from intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and dissociative identity disorder. She is able to feed herself and use the bathroom independently but struggles with normal communication, having an intellectual capacity similar to that of a ten-year-old. During episodes of hyperactivity, she talks incessantly and engages in compulsive behavior, such as rummaging through and relocating objects.

For many years, Teng Moi has lived with her mother, sister, and brother-in-law. Her sister is exceptionally dedicated, rising before dawn every day to care for the family. Their mother suffers from severe dementia, behaves childishly, is paralyzed in all four limbs, and cannot care for herself. On one occasion, she even bit off her own finger without feeling pain, despite the profuse bleeding. Her brother-in-law, although blind, remains optimistic and active in life. Every day, after attending to Teng Moi and their mother, the sister drives her brother-in-law to work. As she grows older, the sister finds it increasingly difficult to care for both their mother and Teng Moi, fearing for Teng Moi’s future care. Consequently, she entrusted our center with Teng Moi’s care.

When Teng Moi first arrived at our center, her sister, despite her busy schedule, would visit frequently. We deeply appreciated the sister’s reluctance to part with Teng Moi. Gradually, as she witnessed our genuine care and concern for Teng Moi, she began to feel reassured. Teng Moi is very well-behaved and assists us with tasks such as washing dishes and sweeping floors. She is especially meticulous when washing dishes, ensuring they are thoroughly clean.
