Family Background: Brother
Medical Conditions: Blindness, self-talking

Fong Kim Hon, aged 57, is blind and frequently talks to himself. Ah Han experienced severe vision problems since childhood, but managed to live normally until around the age of 30 when his vision suddenly deteriorated due to a hereditary condition, resulting in blindness. Struggling to cope with the combined impacts of losing his sight, his relationships, and his career, Ah Han once acted out violently and was subsequently arrested.

For over 20 years, he was diligently cared for by his aging mother until she passed away five years ago. The responsibility then shifted to his brother, who has had to take on odd jobs due to the caregiving demands, making their financial situation very difficult. A few months ago, Ah Han was admitted to a nursing home, which, understanding his plight, charged only RM1,000 per month. However, due to the instability of his brother’s employment, they were still unable to afford the cost. To enable his brother to work and support himself, Ah Han’s brother reluctantly entrusted his blind brother to our disability care center.
