Mary has been diagnosed with mild Alzheimer’s disease. Several months ago, she fell at home and was discovered by her daughter late at night, lying in a pool of blood. This incident significantly worsened her condition. Mary and her daughter had been living in a rented house, but Mary would often wake up in the middle of the night, searching for things and forgetting she had eaten. This would disturb her daughter, who would have to get up to feed her. Their landlord, who is visually impaired, was also severely affected by these disruptions. Consequently, Mary’s daughter could not focus on her job, facing the risk of unemployment.

Initially, Mary started a new life at a nursing home in the Selangor-Kuala Lumpur area. Unfortunately, the center was understaffed and could not provide the necessary care for Mary, who often woke up at night and was unable to care for herself. Upon learning that our center offers unconditional and free care for individuals with disabilities, her daughter approached us. During the home visit, her daughter shed tears, sharing her struggles. When we agreed to take Mary in, her daughter finally began to smile with relief.

Mary is a very neat person who frequently wipes her mouth with tissues, often forgetting she has already done so and repeating the action. Sometimes, if we are not attentive, she can go through an entire roll of tissues. With the guidance and companionship of our caregivers and our community, Mary has shown significant improvement. Her bad habits have reduced considerably, and she now often initiates conversations with others.
